This is done to test your understanding of the rules of geometry rather than your ability to interpret a figure. The GRE has a habit of misrepresenting geometric figures, so lengths and angles look completely wrong compared to actual measurements given in the question. Thursday, Aug 3rd | 12:10 - 1 pm PDT | Zoom Link Test Prep 102: GRE Session 3 – Quantitative Reasoning: Triangles, Quadrilaterals, and Circles If fact, many times you will be able to solve an algebra problem you don’t even understand with plugging in successfully. In this session, we will introduce plugging in techniques that will allow you to approach algebra problems in a faster way. It doesn’t matter how you do the problems it only matters whether you are getting the correct answer. There is no “right” way to do algebra on the GRE like there is in a math class and the GRE often makes the answers difficult to analyze even if you do it the “right” way. Thursday, July 20th | 12:10 - 1 pm PDT | Zoom Link Test Prep 102: GRE Session 2 – Quantitative Reasoning: Plugging In Techniques Critical reasoning skills, as well as speed reading/scanning techniques, are both required to be successful on reading comprehension questions. We will focus on elimination tactics over finding the “correct” answer. In this session, you will learn strategies to recognize and approach the five reading comprehension question types on the Verbal Reasoning section of the GRE. The problem? The answers are often right in front of you, but they are tweaked just enough that you will fall for things like recycled language and slightly altered language. The reading comprehension passages on the GRE range from one sentence to 3 or 4 paragraphs so they are not difficult to read in detail.
